Hydrogen Insertion into Complex-Phase High-Strength Steel during Atmospheric Corrosion at Low Relative Humidity

نویسندگان

چکیده

Atmospheric corrosion is one of the major sources hydrogen in a high-strength-steel product service. Even low concentrations absorbed can cause embrittlement-related material degradation. The extent atmospheric and thus related entry highly dependent on environmental parameters, such as relative humidity. present work focused at humidity, where rates are expected to be low. Hydrogen insertion distribution CP1000 steel induced by under dried rewetted single droplets aqueous NaCl MgCl2 solution were studied using Scanning Kelvin Probe (SKP) resulting amounts diffusible analyzed thermal desorption mass spectrometry (TDMS). Corrosion analyses carried out with SEM/EDX, XRD, Mössbauer spectroscopy. results revealed strong impact salt type concentration into steel. hygroscopic effect formed products responsible for prolonged even very levels

Estimation of Atmospheric Corrosion of High-Strength, Low-Alloy Steels

This data analysis was undertaken to investigate the weatherability of steels whose compositions do not fall in the range of ASTM Standard G101, Estimating the Atmospheric Corrosion Resistance of Low-Alloy Steels (1). This standard was developed to estimate the corrosion resistance of low-alloy weathering steels from chemical composition data and from actual atmospheric exposure tests. This sta...

Failure Investigation of Hydrogen Blistering on Low-strength Carbon Steel

The current study assesses the root causes of hydrogen blisters on low strength carbon steel equipment. For this purpose, some experiments including hardness test, non-destructive test (NDT), metallography, and fractograpghy are conducted. The microstructure of two blisters is assessed by means of optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The microstructural studies show that t...

The Ballistic Behavior of High Strength, Low Alloy-100 Steel at Sub-zero Temperatures

The ballistic response of the high strength, low alloy (HSLA-100) steel at ambient and temperatures of -400°C, -800°C and -1960°C is investigated in this work. Lambert-jonas equation is used to fit the experimental results into a curve. The effect of quenching on ballistic behavior of HSLA-100 is also studied. The experiments are conducted on 3mm thick rectangular specimens impacted by blunt ti...
